KYIV: Ukraine's military said on Saturday it had destroyed a Russian command post in the southern city of Kherson, which fell to Russian forces at the start of the war.

Another Russian general was killed in Ukraine on Saturday, the fifth top leader to fall since the country's military launched an offensive 23 days ago.
Major General Andrey Mordvichev, commander of the 8th Army of the Southern Military District, was killed when Ukrainian armed forces destroyed the command post at the airport in the southern Ukrainian port city of Kherson, officials said.
His death comes as thousands of civilians try to flee another port city, Mariupol, which has been under shelling for weeks and Ukraine's president says Russia is starving his country's cities.
