For 91 years, moviegoers have enjoyed the wonders of cinema at the classic Tampa Theater on Franklin Street in downtown Tampa. Every year around Halloween, the theater hosts a horror film series to honor its history.

The massacre of Francis Dade and his 108 men by the Seminole Indians began as a march from Fort Brooke to Fort Dade. The main fort sat on the site of today's Tampa Convention Center. Two cannons from the fort were moved to the University of Tampa campus.

In 1980, when construction began on the Fort Brooke parking lot in the city of Tampa, workers accidentally discovered a cemetery containing the remains of soldiers and Seminole Indians.
