For 91 years, moviegoers have enjoyed the wonders of cinema at the classic Tampa Theater on Franklin Street in downtown Tampa. Every year around Halloween, the theater hosts a horror film series to honor its history.

Between 1930 and 1959, Tampa saw more than 25 gang murders. Among them, on November 10, 1936, George "Saturday" Zarate, the drug kingpin of New York mobster Charles "Lucky" Luciano, was shot by two shotgun blasts from a passing car in front of El Dorado. A year later, Joe Vaglichi, who was Al Capone's brother's bodyguard, was killed when he was hit by a passing car.
Visitors can now spot some restless spirits in zookeeper suits and fedoras during the Ybor City Ghost Tour, which takes place at 8 p.m. with special hours in October.
The two-hour tour includes a visit to several historic sites in the city, including the Hotel Don Vincent.

In 1980, when construction began on the Fort Brooke parking lot in the city of Tampa, workers accidentally discovered a cemetery containing the remains of soldiers and Seminole Indians.
