Of course, it was not the first in its class. Walter PPS It's been a few years. And the 9mm XDS followed in the footsteps of the previously introduced .45 ACP pistol version.
However, the 9mm XDS set the stage for future pistols such as the Smith & Wesson Shield, the Glock 43 and even the Springfield Hellcat.
When we saw the XDS being introduced, we predicted that the compact single-stack 9mm pistol would grow in popularity. I wasn't wrong—or disappointed.
The rifle uses a 7 round flush mount magazine, but also uses a wider 9 round magazine made by Springfield. I can get a full hand.

This is certainly acceptable, but it would have been nice if the frame was a bit longer to allow the shooter to fully grip the flush mount magazines. That would be great. But the extended magazine offers flexibility for shooters who like their guns both.
The grips are intensely textured without polishing. Some formulations will damage clothing, but it is safe for clothing and skin.
The XDS frame is made of polymer. The slide is colorless. The magazine is metal with a polymer base plate. The magazine has a sight hole for each round so you can immediately see the exact number of rounds loaded in the magazine.
One of the main features of this gun is that it is thin, making it perfect for most people's concealed handgun needs, no doubt about it.

The XDS 9mm front sight uses a red fiber optic. The rear sight is the traditional two white dots. I like the fiber optic fronts, but I'm not a fan of the rear sights, so here's a list of alternative sights that fit the XDS.
The dimensions of the 9mm XDS are exactly the same as the .45 ACP version. The barrel is the same as the .45, but with a smaller bore, making the 9mm version slightly heavier than the larger bore version. I mean
A change from the full-size XD line, the XDS grip safety does not need to be lowered to operate the slide. This may be useful for weaker shooters who move the gun to gain more power to drive the slide.
I shot this pistol for the first time at Media Day at the 2013 Shot Show range event. Media Day is a pre-shot showcase event that puts new guns in the hands of writers. In addition to spending time with the pistol, I was able to speak with Springfield Armory staff to gain insight into the development of this pistol.

The size of the entire grip frame fits comfortably in your hand. It wasn't big enough to be considered a child's toy, but it was much thinner than most other polymer pistols. I like the feel of this gun.
Further into the review, I mentioned that the XDS grip structures are aggressive, making the gun less likely to slip out of your hand, but less likely to hurt. I was curious to see how it appeared when you shot the gun.
Overall, I really liked the feel of the grip. Not even a single bullet from this little pistol felt like the XDS was in danger of slipping into my hand. Also the build worked without any problems. After a day, I don't think anyone has a valid complaint about it. Complain that the gun is too hard.
The pistol I fired had no flaws whatsoever. I didn't see anyone else on the range having problems with the XDS.

I had so much fun shooting this pistol at media day that I arranged for a test gun to be sent for a more in-depth review.
As it turns out, it took a year to get the XDS up for review. When the XDS arrived, I took it to the range for the fire extinguisher. I probably put 2,000 rounds through the pistol over the next two months.
Most of the ammo I put through the gun was Blazer, Federal, and Winchester FMJs, but I put enough ammo out of range for self-defense, please see all loads measured with the XDS 9mm. ]
The gun is easy to shoot and should be familiar to anyone who has fired a Springfield XD or Glock pistol. Trigger pulls were consistent and reset was short and obvious.

When shooting, the sight worked well. I like the look of the bright, color-contrasted front sight, and the red fiber optics certainly work well.
The grip structure remains comfortable to use, and we continued to be impressed with its ability to lock.
