James Bond 380 - With the latest outing of Daniel Craig's iconic MI6 00 to see James Bond in theaters on October 8th, we decided to take a look at a pistol that's almost as iconic as the character himself; Walter's PPK / s. Let's find out if this classic firearm has "No Time to Die" or if it's time to put this nearly 100-year-old design to rest.
We start with Walter PP. Originally Walter PP, "Polizei Pistole" was intended for the German police.
James Bond 380
In 1931, Walter developed and produced the PPK, or Polizei Pistole Kriminal. The name refers to major design changes, a shorter barrel, and a more intended role as an undercover pistol for plainclothes detectives.
Walther Arms Beside James Bond
The Walther PPK was a very popular handgun after World War II and was used in a number of covert roles in many countries around the world, including the CIA, FBI, British intelligence agencies such as MI5 and MI6, France's SDECE, and Israel's Mossad.
This timeless design would see production moved from Germany under the terms of surrender after World War II.
In 1968, the Gun Control Act of 1968 was passed. This unfortunate law severely restricts the importation of compact firearms from outside the United States.
A list of approved handguns has been drawn up and the weapon may be listed for import into the United States, an agreed upon list has been drawn up.
Classic Pistol That Are Still Viable Self Defense Options In Today's World
The Walther PPK did not meet the standards set by this law for import into the United States at the time.
After PPK imports were denied, Walther PPK/s were designed to bypass the checklist and could continue to import them into the United States.
To continue the import, Walther combined a PPK slide and a Walther PP frame.
The added weight and length on the handle is enough to push the desired points on the checklist.
Agent James Bond And His Walther Pistols
Some people avoid topics that make them uncomfortable or uncomfortable.
It's no secret that the Walther PP pistol was developed and used by many Germans around WWII.
There is now a collection of Walter PPK, owned by a member of the famous Nazi party, which is highly valued on the market today.
The most famous Walther PPK of the Second World War was found in the hands of Adolf Hitler himself.

After retreating to the Führerbunker in Berlin with his wife Eva Braun on April 30, 1945, Hitler took a cyanide capsule and shot himself in the head with Walter.
Bond, James Bond. 00 Spy MI6's fictitious name is as famous as his weapon of choice, the Walter PPK. For those who don't know, James Bond didn't start out with the Walter that everyone knows he carries.
Before "From Russia With Love" was published, Ian Flemming received a letter from retired Major Geoffrey Boothroyd. In addition to his military career, Major Boothroyd was also an arms collector.
Major Boothroyd stated that he felt that the Beretta 418 was not a suitable pistol for British secret agents to carry.

After returning and brainstorming various ideas, Boothroyd Bond recommended the release of the Walther PPK. Ian Flemming switched to PPK in the publishing and film adaptation of Dr. No.
If you pay attention to the film Boothroyd's armor named after the Major, then when talking about the newly released Walter PPK, there is a lie in the conversation with Bond and the boss. Boothroyd said Walter was at 7.65 miles.
Boothroyd was in a position to "deliver like a brick through a pane of glass," referring to the power of the new weapon.
This is contrary to the general information on the .32 ACP cartridge. Most people are too anemic to even consider using a gun for personal defense.
Walther Ccp M2 .380 Pistol: Full Review
In this review, we'll find out if the Walther PPK/s still holds up when the rubber hits the road.
We begin by highlighting some of Walter's characteristics. Popular chambering offerings in .22lr, .32 ACP or .380 ACP.
The finish offered on the Walther PPK and PPK/s is deep blue or stainless steel. The Walther PPK/s is a solid steel construction that will stand the test of time.
That doesn't mean there are some cast parts, but the PPK/s frame is a quality piece of stainless steel.

This ensures the overall quality of the firearm. This also means that the Walther PPK is restored to the tune of almost 24 oz.
That's a lot of weight when you consider that the Walther only holds 7 rounds of ammunition in its magazine.
Since the grip is the same as the grip panel of the 1911, they can easily be swapped out for different styles and materials.
Some people prefer soft rubber materials, while others prefer ornately carved wooden handles made from exotic hardwoods or even ivory. This is one of the very few places you can customize a Walther.

The girth of the grip is surprisingly large regardless of the material used, but if we look at the Walther magazine set.
The grip angle isn't all that different from other modern offerings from major manufacturers like Sig and Smith & Wesson.
This is the protrusion of the grip and frame that protrudes beyond the shooter's hand and protects the hand from hammer sting and slide sting.
When the hammer is cocked, the hammer bite contacts the firing arm webbing as the weapon rotates.
Ppks, Also, I Might Be James Bond Now. Lol 😂 This Is My Second Walther. And I Love It.
Depending on how often you shoot and how much ammo you use during a ranged session, this can be a pain.
I think the slide bite is worse. This cuts the shooter's hand with recoil when the firearm is in motion.
Can bite Slide and often do not leave the shooter with a cut across the meat part of the hand web.
They all serve a purpose and are positioned to aid in the general use of the pistol. Starting at the top, you'll see a high rope slide between scenes with wavy patterns.
Walther Ppk: Still Young After Almost 90 Years
This wavy pattern is used to cut the glare that may fall from the light on the top of the slide. This is useful because it makes it easier to identify Walter's appearance.
The next texture you see is the Radius corner of the slide matte finish. It is also designed to reduce glare from Walter's quality finish.
The larger flat areas of the slide and frame are high polish. Whether you have a blue or stainless steel model, this high-gloss finish looks great in your hand or on screen.
These teeth are vertical and deep enough to be effective. The hammer also has serrations to aid in manipulation when striking the striker from a double action to a single action.
James Bond's Other Handgun: Pps. Walther Pps.
The black plastic handle is checkered, but the plastic is still soft and a rubber sleeve would be useful. This is one of the design flaws of PPK / s.
The sights on the PPK/s are serviceable, but quite small compared to modern handguns.
The eye is painted red to help you see the contrast between the steel and the sight.
The Walther's controls are different from what we've seen in modern self-defense pistols.
James Bond Anybody?
The trigger on the Walther PPK/s is a large, curved, smooth MIM piece. MIM stands for Metal Injection Molding.
This is a process used to keep costs down on small parts that do not experience direct stress from the firearm.
While the use of MIM parts is generally considered a negative, I found it acceptable in this application.
This means that there are two types of pull triggers. The basis of this design is that the first shot is longer and heavier, making it safer.

First, it's a hammer. The second action it triggers is to drop the hammer and fire a shot into the chamber.
The Walther PPK/s double pull is very heavy and very long. There is a lot to take in and the break is a surprise.
The only movement is the gloss of the design. After a heavy, long double-action pull, the hammer goes home and the cartridge is fired, the slide returns and a fresh round is loaded into the chamber.
During this slide action, the Hammer and Cock return action leaves the weapon in single action mode for subsequent shots.

Single action pulls are lighter and shorter because only one action releases the trigger line and allows for this
